This is the lyrics…

Once upon a time
We swore not to say goodbye
Something got a hold of us and we changed
Then you sat alone and pried
And I sat at home and cried
How’d our fairytale just end up this way

We went
Round for round
Til we knocked love out
We were laying in the ring
Now making a sound
And if that’s a metaphor of you and I
Why is it so hard to say goodbye

I can’t wait to hate you
Make you pain like I do
Still can’t shake you oh
I can’t wait to break through
These emotional changes
Seems like such a lost cause
I can’t wait phase you
Break you down so low
There’s no place left to go
I can’t wait to hate you

This was a love phenomenon
No one could explain
And I wish I could press reset
And feel that feeling again
I sit and press rewind
And watch us every night
Wanna pause it
But I can’t make it stay (Just gotta let it play)

We went
Round for round
Til we knocked love out
We were laying in the ring
Now making a sound
And if that’s a metaphor of you and I
Why is it so hard to say goodbye

I can’t wait to hate you
Make you pain like I do
Still can’t shake you oh
I can’t wait to break through
These emotional changes
Seems like such a lost cause
I can’t wait phase you
Break you down so low
There’s no place left to go
I can’t wait to hate you

No need to call my phone
I changed my number today
And matter fact
I think I’m moving away
Sorry, the frustration’s
Got me feeling that way
And I just keep having
One last thing to say

I just wanna hold you
Touch you, Feel you
Be near you, I miss you
Baby baby baby
I’m tired of tryna fake through
But there’s nothing I can do
Boy I can’t wait to hate you

I can’t wait to hate you
Make you pain like I do
Still can’t shake you oh
I can’t wait to break through
These emotional changes
Seems like such a lost cause
I can’t wait phase you
Break you down so low
There’s no place left to go
I can’t wait to hate you
(I can’t wait to H.A.T.E.U.)

One Winning Moment

January 31, 2010 joanne manliclic 2 comments

I was given the privilege to attend a seminar via home-participation, I shall call it “HomeTube” (like in YouTube, Haha). My full “thank you” goes out to http://crislorenzana.wordpress.com Topic of winning captured my almost 3 hours. Mind you, the lecture runs just over an hour, why did it took me that long? Here’s why.

So excited, I plunged the DVD, settled in front of the big screen all by myself, with matching manual, pen, coffee, snacks and some candies (seminar environment) because I really wanted to feel the energy as if I am really there. Then, after waiting for some minutes, my friend Sony here all does is “reading…reading…” I checked my watch, almost 30 minutes has gone by. Oh men! Then, I said to myself, “I have to make this work”, so I tried another room, then to no avail – I failed again. With those two failures, giving up has never been an option. So I went back here in my room and decided that laptop shall be it. I removed my watch and didn’t glance “even once” at the clock ticking behind me – for, looking at the time only makes me feel multi-excited.

I learned one important lesson, let me correct that, I remembered one important lesson which I have known ages ago. If one is really hungry for knowledge, he would do everything just to attain and grab that big “K”. Even how many countless failures he would experience along the way, if one’s heart is really into learning, no obstacle shall ground you for breaking in the portals of trials and time. After several minutes of almost a lifetime, it worked. So, PLAY.

I enjoyed it, really. the whole awesome lecture is all about the winner within us, within me. One time, the inspirational officer ask the audience if ever, there is one instance (anything) that makes them a winner? I said aloud “Yes!” (that is how hooked I am, feeling as if I am one of the class), then this gave me a big smile for I remembered one particular moment of my life way back in college. I was in our freshman year, 2nd semester, and we had this professor who exhibited the aura of a “Terror enemy”. First day of the class and he powerfully and confidently walked inside the room, no greeting at all, and looked each one of us straight in the eye. I started to assess his personality, and at first I disliked him at all. “Yabang!”

Then, he boomed at us “Ilan ba dito ang papasa?” (how many here shall pass?), and started relating stories of his previous classes, whom only half of the number of students often passed with a C (that’s how tough he really is – according to him). Starting from row 1, he asked each one of us if we think we could pass his LOGIC 101. Starting with the surname, he stares sarcastically on the eyes of my classmates and would ask if “Ikaw, papasa ka ba?” (are you gonna pass?). That moment really pissed me off.

There we were, just freshmen, not yet ready to take the full swing ahead, and all we got is a terror, and not a mentor. We need the latter, more than the former – that is what I thought. My classmates responses were “I will try my best”, “I don’t know yet”, “I hope so”…

So come my turn, he looked at me with those piercing eyes, and I in turn looked at him back with my sharp, intent and confident eyes (I am already fuming with rage of his boastful personality) : “Ikaw Manliclic, papasa ka ba?” he asked loudly, and all I said was “Yes, I will pass.”

We stared for several seconds, and I swear, those several milliseconds drove me with mixed emotions! I am so happy that I was able to face this “punk” with my head held high, yet, I was nervous on how to actually prove what I have said without belittling myself.

Going back to my HOMETUBING seminar, the inspirational officer spoke of Thomas Edison, whose announcement of his soon-to-be invention always comes first, before the actual execution. And after the announcement of his invention, he would spend hours, days in his lab trying to find out how he would create such one deserving a patent. That is exactly what happened to me. After stating broadly what my goal is, I have no idea how in the world will I accomplish what I have challenged myself into.

So after that incident, I literally went nuts studying that subject, his subject – Logic. My mom saw me studying so hard for that one, I carried around my logic notes and books the whole week. She then asked me what happened which could have driven me close to insanity, then I recounted what happened. She just laughed and pointed out to me that Logic is the easiest subject there is! It turned out that my mom is a pro on Logic. Achieving a flat 1.

Wow… so, she advised one thing for me, never tutored me at all: “learn and understand for yourself, and not for your professor”. I found out that the subject matter is very interesting and way too easy! So I finished the assigned book in no time, attending class as if it is just a review on what I have learned during breaks. Guess what happened?

I got myself exempted on the final exam, got a flat grade of 1 (like my mom) and the professor?

On the last day of the class, he advised us to write a note for anyone on the class, so each of us are trying to guess to whom is that note he is writing for, for he is smiling as he wrote. He then asked for our notes to be passed in front, and places it in the fish bowl. Mixing his “note”. One by one, he would call on the name and distributed each write-ups.

So, every one is waiting who gets the “precious” one, I already received around 8 If I am not mistaken, then he called me again giving another note. I opened it and I almost celebrated when I read it, it said “Para Sa Paborito Kong Apo….Congratulations! Wag Kana Maingay, Baka Magselos Sila…” :)

That is a winning moment for me, and every time we would bump into each other on the hallways, I cannot help but smile as I recount what strategy he used on us on the first day. He was crazy! Daring us, challenging us, bringing out the best in each and one of us – by firing up a major goal from within, like Thomas Edison.

So, thank you Atty. Agustin… You demonstrated a winning moment for me.

To-morrow…not, To-Day… Yes!

“Tomorrow is the only day in the year that appeals to a lazy man…”
- Jimmy Lyons

How prepared are you for TODAY?

I am reading Talent Is Never Enough (John Maxwell), and I just cannot resist not sharing with everyone one poem which captured the entire “tomorrow-ish” issue of almost every human being. I am sure that once in our lives, we have experienced the permeable disease of laziness, the feeling of “not wanting to do anything at all”, the lack of desire to be alive, and the ironic feeling of being “spiritually dead”. Some might say “earth to you!”, implying that you are indeed physically present, but, spiritually, and mentally absent.

Why the dilemma? Natural process of mankind. But, it depends upon our choice, OUR CHOICE. We can choose to be this and that all the time, we can choose to be better & good or to self-destruct & just die (I prefer the former, though, and I know as you read this, you would prefer it too). Some even die without even being born (I have read this somewhere, I just forgot from whom, forgive me) and that is just sad.

So to pull you back from the misery of doing all things for Tomorrow, allow me please to share with you a “poem” I have mentioned earlier (its just that I am way too “talkative” in expounding details, it took me two paragraphs just to introduce this combination of words – definitely with matter of substance for TODAY.

To-morrow

He was going to be all that a mortal should be
To-morrow
No one should be kinder or braver than he
To-morrow
A friend who was troubled and weary he knew,
Who’d be glad of a lift and who needed it, too;
On him he would call and see what he could do
To-morrow
Each morning he stacked up the letters he’d write
To-morrow
And thought of the folks he would fill with delight
To-morrow
It was too bad, indeed, he was busy to-day,
And hadn’t a minute to stop on his way;
More time he would have to give others, he’d say
To-morrow
The greatest of workers this man would have been
To-morrow
The world would have known him, had he ever seen
To-morrow
But the fact is he died and faded from view,
And all that he left here when living was through
Was a mountain of things he intended to do
To-morrow.

- Edgar Guest

Seduction comes into us in the form of laziness, of savoring the zero quantity of living. Wrong. May we continually fight in abhorring that mindset, and prepare and plan now, as in NOW.

Today is a gift wrapped in the altitude of choices.

Are you ready for today?
Yes?
Yes.
I can hear your answer…

Life Without Limbs.

Life Without Limbs.

An organization for those who are physically disabled started by Nick Vujicic. Nick, 27, and born with Tetramelia Disorder (without arms and legs), who tried to kill himself when he was 8 years old, found the “light of faith” and has been travelling from several nations already… spreading the good news of God, encouraging individuals to take a step back and review their lives.

His means of living involves other people, suffered discrimination before due to his physical disabilities, but, stood up and confidently faced the world with Christ as his great motivator. He was one of the 2009 People of the year of Hill Air Force One.

I chanced upon him today at Youtube while I was trying to search for some inspirational videos. And, last year 2009, I also wrote a post about a great fisherman without arms and legs, and this time around, I found Nick – a motivational speaker, still, with no arms and legs.

May I share with you his 4 part video of a speech he was invited into, and I hope that you’ll also be inspired as I have been…

Part Two..

(maybe one reason why God hasn’t answered your prayers yet is because he is preparing you….) – I love what he said.

Part Three…

(focus not on your disabilities.. but focus on your CAPABILITIES…) – indeed.

Part Four…

(If God is calling you today.. do not be deceived….Take that leap of FAITH) – kept my eyes open….

(thanks for repotgenerations – youtube for the videos)

I was in awe… still up until now…

I thank God for allowing me to choose “today” as my inspirational Youtube viewing day… I thank God for allowing me to choose and click his videos.

I thank God for his silent nudge of preparing me to be the better person that He wants me to be.

I hope you’ll all be inspired as well….
